Because I Suck

It's been a long time since I've posted and because Angie (damn you woman, get a handle on your evil, over-achieving ways!) was so kind in pointing this out I'm now left in the unfortunate position of having to apologise to both of my readers. What's my excuse? A twenty-four pound toddler who is herself a self-sustaining energy source. Obsessed with books, water, hand tools, car rides, bike rides, airplane rides, imitating the cat, chasing our newest household member, dodging the fire ants, ascending and descending anything at least moderatley still, and sniffing our morning coffee (although she's still unable to make a decent latte), Lula spent most of her summer in her diaper or swimsuit, hands on a garden hose or the handle bars. Last week we managed to score some long overdue face time with the Detroit families, and we followed this up with a trip to Atlanta. In the midst of traveling Lula apparently decided it was time she started potty training herself (I might have gotten 'round to it were I not always so busy prying the cat's tail from her fist). Sounds great (Twenty months! Loves the potty!) but either her bladder is still too small or else she's finding it just too much fun as we are forever and always "tinkling" and "ba-ba-ing". All this is to suggest I've been too busy to post, however the simple reality is as I stated earlier: I suck. Completely lacking in ambition or inspiration, writing for me has become a drag. It was much easier when my brain was still lubricated with adult-like thoughts, words with more than one meaning still bouncing around inside. Having stayed home now with Lula for almost a year my writing feels clumsy, my brain sluggish as if my neural pathways have been packed with strained carrots. No, it's probably more like cheese grits. Mmm, cheeeese. I am working on (or at least thinking of) some projects more visual in nature that I hope will not suck and I may at some point share. In the meantime, please enjoy some of the results of Lula's third portrait session with the still amazing and decidedly un-suck-ish Susan Stripling.

I know the mush brain syndrom.... it's a survival technique, very ancient, necessary to withstand the strained carrots in the ba-ba-ing, lasts long long time (not the strained carrots....)
